HPV – Learn more about the vaccine and get protected
There are over 100 strains of HPV, 12 are considered high risk. The HPV vaccine prevents against 9 of these.
Most people are not aware they have HPV, it often has no physical symptoms.
HPV is very common and very contagious. About 85% of people will be exposed to the virus at some point during their life.
HPV vaccine has a more significant impact on younger individuals prior to any HPV related exposure.
HPV related cancers are very slow growing and often are not detected until much later in life (after someone is eligible to receive the vaccine).
